You need funk. You need soul. You need R&B.
Josh Hoyer & the Shadowboxers is a seven-piece Lincoln band that has all three.
Hoyer, former leader of Sons of '76 & the Watchmen and a member of Lil Slim Blues Band, created the Shadowboxers as a way to blend all kinds of roots music: Americana, Memphis blues, New Orleans jazz and Motown soul, too.
Hoyer started his performance career at the age of 8. Over the years, he learned saxophone, piano and organ before became a prolific songwriter.
The Shadowboxers perform an even mix of original songs as well as covers made popular by blues and jazz artists.
Included in the band are Justin G. Jones, Brian Borrow, Benjamin Kushner, Tom Van Den Berg, Mike Dee and Logan Pennington. They're an experienced bunch that has performed with bands such as Mannheim Steamroller, the Quincy Jones Orchestra, Maynard Ferguson, The Millions, The Mezcal Brothers, Stone River Boys and plenty more.
