After 65 years, the Omaha women’s city championship may have ended.
In its place this year is a new statewide tournament sponsored by the Nebraska Women’s Amateur Golf Association, the Ladies State Mid-Amateur on Aug. 18 and 19 at Platteview Country Club.
In recent years, the city association, which dates to 1948, has struggled with its organization and finding courses willing to host the tournament. This also is the second consecutive year that there has been no nine-hole championship.
Entry fee for the 36-hole Mid-Amateur, which will be flighted, is $95. Entry deadline is Aug. 15. Contact Bobby O’Keefe at Platteview, 402-291-5927, or the NWAGA office 402-505-4653, ext 103.
