A difficult West Coast road stretch highlights Creighton's challenges in the nonconference men's basketball season before jumping into its first season in the Big East.
“We're really excited about the nonconference schedule that we were able to put together,” CU coach Greg McDermott said Friday in a statement announcing the nonconference schedule. “It's got seven home games, including Nebraska, and all five of our games away from home will be a challenge. I think it's a great mix to get us prepared for our first season in the Big East.”
November will feature the return of the Korver family to Omaha — but not in a Bluejay uniform. Senior Kirk Korver, the youngest brother of former Bluejays Kyle and Kaleb, is a guard for the University of Missouri-Kansas City. It is his first game against his brothers' alma mater and the first matchup between the teams since 1998.

Creighton's trip to Anaheim, Calif., for the Wooden Legacy tournament could be its toughest nonconference test away from home. After an opener against Arizona State, the Bluejays could face San Diego State, the College of Charleston, Marquette and Miami, among others, depending on how far they advance.
About a week after the road stretch concludes, Creighton will host its annual matchup against the Huskers on Dec. 8. Nebraska leads the all-time series 25-21, but the Bluejays have won 11 of the past 15.
Creighton also has road games against St. Joseph's and Long Beach State.
The Jays will play an 18-game Big East schedule and then the Big East tournament at Madison Square Garden starting March 12.
Game times will be finalized in the coming months. The Bluejays' Big East schedule is expected to be released around Labor Day.
