Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine said Wednesday his office is looking at the evidence to determine whether prosecutors will seek the death penalty against Dr. Anthony J. Garcia.
Garcia is charged with four counts of first-degree murder in the 2008 slayings of Thomas Hunter and Shirlee Sherman and the May deaths of Dr. Roger and Mary Brumback.
From his initial review of the case, Kleine said, three aggravating factors exist that, by law, could qualify the case for the death penalty:
» There were multiple murders.
» The killings were committed to conceal a crime or the identity of the killer.
» The killings were especially heinous, atrocious or cruel.
