Lincoln is getting a number of new restaurants in the west Haymarket district as part of the Canopy Street development, among them a new outpost of an Omaha restaurant.
Canopy Street will be a dining and entertainment district in downtown Lincoln adjacent to the existing Haymarket and the Pinnacle Bank Arena. Among the food offerings:
-- A third location for Hiro 88. The restaurant group also runs two locations in Omaha, one in the Old Market and one in Midtown Crossing.
-- Vega, a locally-owned and operated concert venue, serving "haute" dogs created with local ingredients. The menu also will include Belgian-style fries, daily soups and meatless options.
-- Gate 25 Bar and Restaurant, an upscale modern American bar and restaurant. It will serve large portions designed to share. Brandon Ackert, formerly of the Lincoln Country Club, will be the proprietor.
-- Joysticks Arcade Bar, serving drinks, beer and wine as well as "food on sticks."
-- El Mariachi Taco Cantina, featuring authentic Mexican and Latin American food. The owners of El Rancho, at 27th and O Streets in Lincoln, will operate the restaurant.
-- Chain restaurants Jimmy John’s, Mellow Mushroom Pizza and Buffalo Rings and Wings.
