The Nebraska Board of Education has launched an online survey to help guide selection of the state's next commissioner of education.
The survey asks for public comments on the strengths and challenges of the Nebraska Department of Education and of public education in the state as a whole.
Survey-takers will be asked to identify the characteristics they deem most important for the person who will replace retired Commissioner Roger Breed.
Breed stepped down June 30. Board members hired a consultant, PROACT Search, to conduct the search for a new commissioner.
