An Omaha man was injured Thursday while holding fireworks.
Medics were called to 2522 Poppleton Ave. shortly after 5 p.m. to treat Jesus Omar-Montes, 26.
Police said Omar-Montes lit fireworks described as an artillery shell. It exploded while he was still holding it, and both his hands were severely injured.
He was taken to Creighton University Medical Center. His injuries were not life-threatening, police said.
