A 23-year-old Omaha motorcyclist was seriously injured Sunday night in an accident on Interstate 80 in western Iowa.
The Iowa State Patrol said Kelley Costanzo was westbound on a 2008 Harley-Davidson near Avoca in Pottawattamie County about 9:45 p.m. when he struck a hole in the pavement and lost control of the motorcycle.
The patrol said the Harley went into a slide and Costanzo and the bike came to a stop near the westbound shoulder. The patrol said Costanzo and the motorcycle had moved off I-80 before troopers arrived.
Costanzo was taken to a Council Bluffs hospital in serious condition.
Later, the Iowa Department of Transportation filled the pavement hole.
The patrol said an investigation into the crash was continuing.
