The driver of a pickup that crashed into an ambulance did not have alcohol or drugs in his system, according to toxicology reports.
William J. Whitlatch, 24, who was driving a pickup truck that crossed the center line, and Weeping Water ambulance driver Robert D. Hanes Sr., 51, died after the June 11 accident.
Two rescue volunteers and the patient in the ambulance were injured but have been released from the hospital.
Cass County Sheriff's Capt. Dave Lamprecht said authorities were still trying to determine the cause of the crash.
A motorist behind Whitlatch's truck called 911 just before the crash and said that he was driving erratically.
A deputy was a few miles away and responded to the call.
