A man who is accused of twice assaulting his former girlfriend is being sought by Omaha police.
Ardelle E. Dunlap Jr., 30, attempted to smother the woman with his hands and a pillow on May 22, the woman told police.
He assaulted the same woman on Tuesday at a gas station near 40th and Hamilton Streets, police said. He punched her in the head, pistol-whipped her and stole her sedan, police said.
Later Tuesday, Dunlap ran from police near 34th and Oak Streets.
Police issued an advisory on the warrant Wednesday and said they hoped the public would help them find Dunlap. They said he is 5-foot-7, 145 pounds and has tattoos on his right arm, hands and neck.
Police said he is considered armed and dangerous and may be under the influence of marijuana or tobacco laced with PCP.
Police said Dunlap is a gang member and a felon and is on federal supervised release.
Police said anyone who sees Dunlap or knows where he is should call 911. Such a person should not approach him.
