Chef2 (Chef Squared) is open at Midtown Crossing. The store offers more than three dozen flavors of olive oil and vinegar, along with a selection of sea salts and beauty products.
All purchases are bottled at the time of sale.
The new retail space, a 1,700-square-foot store at 3157 Farnam St., is owned and operated by two Omaha chefs, Jim Trebbien and Mike Combs.
Trebbien is a longtime chef and the dean of Metropolitan Community College's Institute for Culinary Arts, and Combs is the institute's executive chef.
Not sure whether to use apricot, cilantro or rosemary-flavored olive oil in your recipe?
The owners promise a busy schedule of tastings, demonstrations and classes on the use of sweet and savory products in home cooking.
Trebbien, whose son Ben is also a stakeholder in the business, expects the business to serve professional chefs, home cooks and people looking for unusual gift baskets. Local entrepreneur Shirley Neary, founder of Cupcake Island and 21st Century Quilts, is also involved in the venture.
