Wine will flow at Village Pointe this weekend.
More than 185 wines from around Nebraska, the United States and the world will be available for tasting at the annual Village Pointe Wine Festival, which will take place Friday and Saturday.
This year's festival — the third such event — will be the largest yet, said Dan Matuszek, President and CEO of Brix, one of the sponsors of the event.
The event, which Matuszek expects to draw about 2,000 people, will feature a wide array of wines. Classic reds and red blends from throughout the world will be served alongside summery whites, roses, sparkling wines and trendy moscatos. Most wines featured retail between $10 and $50 a bottle, Matuszek said.
In addition to hundreds of wines from dozens of wineries, the festival will feature two free concerts, a fashion show and food from five Village Pointe restaurants, he said.
Brix, Johnny's Italian Steakhouse, Kona Grill, Firebirds Wood Fired Grill and Bravo Cucina Italiana will serve small plates of food throughout the event. Live music will begin both nights at 6:30 p.m. Finest Hour will play Friday, and High Heel will take the stage on Saturday.
During a band intermission Saturday night, various Village Pointe shops will take part in a fashion show.
“It's all the summer looks,” Matuszek said.
Tickets include unlimited wine tasting, a small plate of food from each of the five restaurants and admission to the concerts and fashion show, along with a $10 gift card to Brix.
