Berkshire Hathaway Inc.'s newest director has joined her fellow board members in becoming a shareholder in the Omaha-based conglomerate.
Meryl Witmer, an investment fund manager for Eagle Capital Partners in New York City, was elected May 4 to the board. Earlier this week she filed a required Securities and Exchange form listing her stock ownership as zero.
Friday, she reported that she bought two shares on Thursday and one share Friday, and her husband, Richard, bought four shares Friday. Under securities rules, directors report family members' holdings as well as their own.
The seven shares, worth $1,163,400, would put her family's Berkshire investment ahead of fellow board member Susan Decker, former president of Yahoo, whose latest report listed $350,000 worth of the stock.
The Omaha World-Herald Co. is owned by Berkshire Hathaway Inc.
