Huskers add safety commit to 2014 class

LINCOLN — Nebraska added its first football commit in nearly two months and its second recruit overall Wednesday night, landing safety Jason Hall out of Grand Prairie, Texas.

Both 247Sports and reported that Hall plans to join Luke Gifford in NU's class of 2014. Gifford is a junior athlete out of Lincoln Southeast who committed March 11.

Hall is a 6-foot-1, 192-pounder from South Grand Prairie High who also had an offer from North Texas.

“Nebraska really wanted me, and they were my top school I wanted to go to,” Hall told “I've had an offer from North Texas, and OU, Oklahoma State and Nevada are close to offering. There's a chance I'll keep any eye out for other schools, but Nebraska is where I want to be.”

According to his Hudl profile, Hall runs a 4.73 40-yard dash and has a 35-inch vertical jump. He said Husker coaches were recruiting him as a possible safety, cornerback or nickel back.

Nebraska signed four defensive backs in its last class with D.J. Singleton, Boaz Joseph, Nathan Gerry and Drake Martinez. Among players NU will lose after next season are cornerbacks Ciante Evans, Stanley Jean-Baptiste, Andrew Green and Mohammed Seisay.
