LINCOLN — Nebraska will try to add to its success in Memorial Stadium night games when it starts next season with a pair of late kickoffs that will be carried by the Big Ten Network.
NU and BTN announced Monday that the Huskers' season-opening game with Wyoming on Aug. 31 will be carried live at 7 p.m. NU then will kick off at 5 p.m. against Southern Mississippi on Sept. 7 with coverage by BTN.
Nebraska owns an all-time record of 37-5 in night games at home. That mark includes 11 straight wins under the lights at Memorial Stadium.
“Memorial Stadium always has a great atmosphere, and kicking off the season with two home night games should bring even more energy to the stadium,” NU coach Bo Pelini said in a release.
The BTN schedule comes about a week after Nebraska was not included in the ABC/ESPN plans for prime-time games in 2013. The Huskers played three ABC/ESPN prime-time games last season.
The NU-Wyoming game will mark the seventh time since 2002 that the Huskers play their season-opening game at night. The last time was 2010 against Western Kentucky, a game that NU won 49-10.
