After a week of lower-than-normal temps and some soul-bruising snow, the better weather is on the way for the metro area. And here to stay a while.
“The story is that it's going to get much warmer and feel like spring should,” said Rob Richards, a meteorologist with AccuWeather.
Monday will be partly sunny with highs around 70. Tuesday will be slightly warmer with a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
Highs will stay in the lower 70s and upper 60s for the rest of the week, with a chance of thunderstorms each day.
“The first part of the week will be dry; the latter half of the week you'll see showers and thunderstorms as the storm system lingers over the central plains,” Richards said. “There could even be a couple of stronger thunderstorms by the middle of the week. But you won't have to worry about snow.”
