Police arrested a 50-year-old man Thursday night in connection with a burglary-related case in north Omaha.
Omaha police said Robert Polsey was arrested on suspicion of felony destruction of property, trepassing and theft by unlawful taking of items valued at $200 to $500.
About 8:55 p.m., police received a call that a burglary was in progress at a home near North 24th Street and Templeton Drive. Officers said they found Polsey standing inside the back door. Next to the back door, officers said, was a shopping cart full of metal.
The downstairs to the house had sustained heavy damage, police said, with metal ripped from the joists and ceiling. Officers also discovered damage to a water pipe, and they found that water was beginning to pool. Metropolitan Utilities District was called to shut off the water.
