The driver of a pickup truck died Thursday night after he crashed into a Metro transit bus that had broken down on Interstate 480.
Omaha police identified the pickup driver as Michael F. Munn, 67, of Omaha.
Munn was pronounced dead at Creighton University Medical Center, said traffic Sgt. Douglas Klein.
The bus driver, Sheldon Johnson, 49, of Papillion was not injured. No passengers were on board.
The accident occurred about 6:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-480 near Leavenworth Street.
Klein said the bus broke down in one of the through lanes. It was immobile and had its flashers on.
Munn, drivng a 2003 Chevrolet pickup, had just entered I-480 from Martha Street and slammed into the rear of the bus.
Police did not say what caused the Metro bus to break down.
The crash shut down all I-480 northbound lanes for a time. Traffic was diverted onto 24th Street.
