Mavs sweep South Dakota

VERMILLION, S.D. — The UNO softball team swept a doubleheader Tuesday against at South Dakota, winning 1-0 and 6-3.

In the opener, Dana Elsasser threw a four-hitter to earn her third straight shutout. Elsasser struck out six and walked none to extend her scoreless streak to 22 innings.

Molly Negrete drove in three runs to lead the Mavs (32-5, 10-1 Summit League) in the second game, while Amber Lutmer added a two-run double.

UNO is in third place in the Summit League with a 10-1 league record. North Dakota State and IPFW are tied for first with 6-0 records.

The Mavs close their series with South Dakota at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
