Nebraskans Against the Death Penalty will sponsor a discussion about the death penalty Saturday in Omaha.
The free event, titled “The Myth of Redemptive Violence: Who Would Jesus Execute?,” will be held at Creighton University's Harper Center Auditorium from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Christian activist Shane Claiborne will headline the event. Claiborne worked with Mother Teresa in Calcutta, India, and has worked in inner-city ministry in cities across the country.
Victoria Coward, whose son was shot to death, will talk about how the death penalty system affected her family. Curtis McCarty, who spent 21 years on death row for a murder he was later cleared of, also will speak.
