It was supposed to be a romantic rendezvous.
The first sign that things didn't turn out as planned came from 911 dispatch reports: nude pedestrian hit by car.
About 10 a.m. Friday, outside the Econo Lodge near 21st and Douglas Streets, passersby turned on their video cameras. Homeless men gawked and gossiped.
When police arrived, the naked truth was revealed: Two men had met on Craigslist and consented to the hotel hookup. One man thought the other had stolen his wallet.
Still unclothed, he ran onto the busy roadway and threw himself at the other man's moving car. The driver tried to push the man away through his open window. The naked man refused to let go and was dragged a short distance.
Medics took him to the hospital with road rash. Police let the other man leave the scene.
The wallet, it turned out, was in the hotel room.
