PISGAH, Iowa — Iowa officials say a tip led to charges for a Sioux City man who poached a wild turkey.
The State Department of Natural Resources said 42-year-old Phuoc Nguyen illegally shot the turkey last month near Pisgah in Monona County.
Officials said a citizen contacted the bureau about Nguyen. A technician followed Nguyen and reported he moved an uncased rifle to the car's rear. The turkey was recovered on state forest land.
Nguyen pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of not having a valid turkey tag and illegally using a rifle to harvest a turkey. He also pleaded guilty to shooting a turkey out of season, abandoning it and shooting a rifle on or over a road.
He faces more than $700 in fines and $200 in damages for the turkey. — AP
