An Omaha Goodwill is offering something other than used items: Computer skills.
The Goodwill in Benson Park Plaza at 72nd Street and Ames Avenue is now providing free basic computer classes for Microsoft Office's most commonly used programs: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Developed by the Goodwill Community Foundation based in eastern North Carolina, the Goodwill READY program offers personalized training in a classroom setting at the Benson Goodwill's computer lab or online training at www.GCFLearningFree.org.
Students will learn how to create professional-looking documents and PowerPoint slideshows as well as how to enter, store and analyze data on Excel spreadsheets.
Staff are available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to provide assistance. Classes are held Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Goodwill's Benson Park Plaza location, 4805 N 72nd St. For information, call 402-231-1978 or go to www.goodwillomaha.org.
