LINCOLN — Predicted inclement weather has forced the postponement of Wednesday’s scheduled softball doubleheader between Nebraska and Minnesota. The Huskers and Golden Gophers now will meet in a doubleheader on April 16 beginning at 4 p.m. at Bowlin Stadium.
The decision to postpone was made on Monday, before Minnesota traveled to Lincoln on Tuesday. Per Big Ten Conference policy, if the Golden Gophers had left for Lincoln on Tuesday and the game could not have been played Wednesday as scheduled, the teams would not have been allowed to reschedule.
Both teams’ top priority was playing the doubleheader, as Nebraska is third in the conference standings with a 6-2 league record, while Minnesota is tied for fourth, one-half game behind the Huskers with a 6-3 mark in Big Ten play.
Fans with tickets to Wednesday’s postponed games may use their ticket for general-admission seating into any future regular-season home softball game.
Both games of the Nebraska-Minnesota doubleheader were originally scheduled to be televised live by the Big Ten Network. Neither game of the rescheduled April 16 doubleheader will be televised, as BTN is covering the Nebraska-Arkansas baseball game Tuesday night at Hawks Field.
