A 47-year-old custodian was shot Wednesday night as he left work at Omaha South High School.
Omaha police said Oanh Vu is expected to recover. He was taken to Creighton University Medical Center after the shooting at 11:30 p.m.
Vu told police that he had gone to his vehicle, which was parked on 23rd Street. He was inside the vehicle when a man approached and attempted to rob him.
Vu refused to hand anything over, and the suspect fired a gun, police said.
No arrests have been made.
Police said the man was shot in a hand and possibly elsewhere. They also said the man had just ended his shift at South High.
