Nebraska's best burger finalists announced
By Sarah Baker Hansen
WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

The Nebraska Beef Council has announced the finalist burgers in its annual Nebraska's Best Burger contest.

The top five contenders are the Haystack Burger at Dinker's in Omaha, the Greta Burger at Greta's Gourmet in Lincoln, the Joseph Angus Burger at the Peppermill & E.K. Valentine Lounge in Valentine, the Triple “B” Burger at Tommy Colina's Kitchen in Omaha and the Diet Burger at the Union Bar in Gering.

The Western Burger at the Cellar in Kearney got the most votes from the public online, but because the Cellar won the contest in 2011, it was not eligible to win again.

Diners submitted more than 2,000 nominations online for their favorite burgers around Nebraska. The Nebraska Beef Council will send a panel of anonymous judges to evaluate the top five burgers based on taste, proper cooking and appearance. The winner will be announced at the end of April and recognized in May during Nebraska Beef Month.
