Creighton coach Ed Servais is ready to pick up the pace.
The Bluejays have played 20 games over the first seven weeks of the college baseball season. There are seven weeks left in the regular season, and Servais would like to see his team get into more of a rhythm.
“Baseball isn’t a game in which you can play a couple days a week and be sharp,” Servais said. “What we’ve been through so far, with having to move practices indoors and having games get canceled, has really been tough on the players.
“Now we’re going to try to jam a lot of games into a short period of time, and you just hope they can hold up.”
Creighton will take its 14-6 record Tuesday to Kansas for a 6 p.m. game against the Jayhawks. Kansas is 15-10 but is coming off a Saturday victory over Oklahoma that snapped a 13-game winning streak for the Sooners.
The Bluejays will return home for a three-game weekend Missouri Valley series against Bradley. Creighton is 2-1 in league play, a game behind first-place Missouri State (3-0).
