A Nebraska man died early Saturday after a single-vehicle accident in Shelby County.
Authorities found Tanner Merz, 21, of Falls City inside a 2003 Ford Taurus on its top in a ditch on County Road M47 on the south edge of Irwin, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
An investigation revealed Merz was northbound on the county road when he lost control of the vehicle, which entered the north ditch and came to rest on its top.
Medical personnel pronounced Merz dead at the scene. He had used his seat belt, the Sheriff’s Office said. An autopsy is scheduled, with results expected in the coming weeks.
An investigation into the wreck continues.
