CEDAR RAPIDS — A Waterloo man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for crashing into three police cars during a high-speed chase in Hiawatha last August.
Bobby Wolf, 31, was sentenced last week in Linn County District Court after pleading guilty in November to three counts of assaulting a peace officer, attempt to elude, theft and other counts. His first attempt to plead guilty to the charges was rejected when a judge asked Wolf if he had intentionally hit the cruisers, and Wolf said he couldn’t remember.
When a defendant pleads guilty, he must admit to the factual basis of the crime.
One of the police vehicles was destroyed, for a $15,082 loss. The other vehicles sustained more than $6,000 in damage. — AP
