Today is the last day to request an early voting ballot sent by mail to Douglas and Sarpy County voters for next Tuesday's city primary election.
Douglas County Election Commissioner Dave Phipps said his office had sent out about 7,000 early ballots. About half have been returned, and 1,200 more people have voted in person.
Two candidates will advance to the May 14 general election in the mayor's race, three of seven City Council races and all nine Omaha Public Schools subdistricts.
» Requests for ballots by mail must reach the election commission by 4 p.m. today.
» Early ballots can be taken to the Election Commissioner's Office or to one of several drop boxes by 8 p.m. Tuesday.
