COLUMBIA, Mo. — The UNO baseball team ended its 10-game road stretch with an 11-4 loss to Missouri on Wednesday at Taylor Stadium.
The Tigers jumped out to a 7-0 lead before UNO (5-12) scored all four of its runs on three hits in the top of the eighth inning.
Brett Bass led off the inning with a single to center, and Tyler Splichal walked to put two on for UNO. A passed ball put both runners in scoring position, and the Mavericks loaded the bases with a walk from Clayton Taylor.
Alex Schultz then hit a RBI single to center to score Bass for UNO’s first run of the day. Following a pitching change, a two-run single from Cole Gruber allowed Splichal and Taylor to cross. UNO tacked on its fourth run with a groundout from redshirt freshman Connor Messinger, which scored Schultz and made it 7-4.
Missouri answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning to go up 11-4.
UNO returns to action at 6 p.m. Friday with a game against Creighton at TD Ameritrade Park.
