Spring will show her face the rest of the week -- warming weather, a mix of sunshine, clouds and a slight chance of rain are in the forecast.
Enjoy the warmth while you can, a return to chilly, wet weather is possible next week.
This weekend, highs in the upper 50s are forecast in Omaha, along with a chance of rain on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service and AccuWeather Inc.
If so, those highs would be 20 degrees to 30 degrees warmer than last weekend.
"If we get some sunshine on either one of those days, especially in the afternoon hours, temperatures might get up into 60s," said Tom Kines, meteorologist with AccuWeather Inc., The World-Herald's private weather consultant. "That would be like a heat wave."
With rain possible on Saturday, it's logical to fret about the effect on Easter Egg hunts, but meteorologists suggest giving the forecast a couple of days to mature. No matter what, any rain won't be accompanied by stormy weather, they say.
Scott Dergan, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said he expects rainfall to be relatively modest.
"It's certainly not a strong system, and the core of the activity will be to the north and south," he said.
Easter Sunday has the potential to be a lovely day, Kines said, with warm weather and skies forecast to be partly sunny.
Kines said early next week could bring a return of wet weather in Omaha. Rain, even snow, if temperatures drop enough, are possible Monday into Tuesday, he said.
