Tuesday’s scheduled UNO softball game against Nebraska at Westside Field at Westbrook has been moved to Wednesday at 5 p.m.
The switch was made because of warmer temperatures expected on Wednesday. It will also allow another day to dry out the field.
The game marks the beginning of a school-record eight-game road trip for the Huskers. Nebraska, which just completed an abbreviated six-game homestand, does not return to Bowlin Stadium until an April 10 doubleheader with Minnesota.
Wednesday’s game will also mark the home opener for the Mavericks, who have had six scheduled home games canceled due to inclement weather. UNO was originally scheduled to open against Nebraska on March 12, but the game was rescheduled due to unplayable field conditions.
Nebraska and UNO met last Tuesday in the Mavericks’ last game, as their home series with Fort Wayne was canceled last weekend. The Huskers edged UNO 3-2, winning on a two-out, two-run, walk-off single from sophomore Mattie Fowler in the bottom of the seventh inning.
