NU takes down Bruins for fourth win

Santa Monica, Calif. — The No. 9 Nebraska sand volleyball team earned its third straight win Thursday, edging No. 7 UCLA 3-2 at the Annenburg Community Beach House in Santa Monica, Calif.

Nebraska’s No. 1 duo of Kelsey Robinson and Alexa Strange started the afternoon with a win for the Huskers, beating Meg Norton and Kelly Reeves 21-15, 21-16. Hayley Thramer and Amber Rolfzen fell to ZoŽ Nightingale and Becca Strehlow 21-17, 21-19.

The Huskers rebounded with consecutive wins, as Morgan Broekhuis and Kadie Rolfzen topped Bojana Todorovic and Megan Moenoa 21-13, 19-21, 15-7, followed by Alicia Ostrander and Kelsey Fien beating Karly Drolson and Karsta Lowe 21-19, 21-23, 15-13.

Sherida Zarda and Meghan Haggerty fell to the Bruins’ Rachel Inouye and Maddy Klineman 21-19, 21-19 in the No. 5 match.

The Huskers head to USC for a pair of matches Friday against No. 5 Hawaii at 1 p.m. and the No. 4 Trojans at 3 p.m. at Merle Norman Stadium.
