Two snowstorms this winter have helped Omaha break longstanding records.
Sunday's snow set a record for total snowfall for that date — 8.8 inches accumulated, well above the previous high of 2.9 inches on March 10, 1901.
It's worth noting that a few more flakes fell after midnight, so the storm total was 9 inches in Omaha.
The 3.1 inches of snow that fell Dec. 19 was not a record for snow, but it set a record for precipitation. That snow melted into 0.81 inches of water. That topped the mark of 0.76 inches set on that date in 1881.
