Midwest Living Magazine is recognizing 27 pizza places across the Midwest in its March-April issue, and one in Kearney made the list.
Trattoria Flippin Sweet opened in 2012. The magazine says the restaurant “trips all the trendy triggers,” has chalkboard decor, drinks in Mason jars and takes payments via iPhones.

Bruegger’s green bagel is back.
An annual tradition since 1997, the green bagel will be in bakeries today through Sunday. In 2012, Brueggers sold more than 100,000 green bagels nationwide.

Celebrity-worthy juice in Omaha

Two Omahans in bake-off
Two Omahans are semifinalists in the 46th annual Pillsbury Bake-off.
Deborah Biggs and Tanya Warren are two of 60 semifinalists in the “Amazing Doable Dinners” category. Biggs’ recipe is mole-style pulled pork sandwiches, and Warren’s is sweet and spicy chicken flatbread.
For the first time, the public is in charge of choosing the winner. Voters can visit bakeoff.com through March 28 and vote for a semifinalist in the category. Those votes will determine 100 finalists, who will travel to Las Vegas in November to compete at the bake-off finals. The winner gets $1 million.
The Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest is a legendary cooking competition that originated in 1949 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. This year, participants were asked to limit their recipes to seven or fewer ingredients and the dish had to be prepared in 30 minutes or less.
