The race is on.
Friday was the deadline for mayoral candidates and City Council challengers to submit the necessary paperwork to appear on the April 2 primary ballot.
Mayor Jim Suttle will stand alongside a host of opponents — State Sen. Brad Ashford, businessman Dave Nabity, Councilwoman Jean Stothert and former Councilman Dan Welch have been formally cleared for the ballot, according to the Douglas County Election Commissioner’s Office. Maura DeLuca and perennial candidate Mort Sullivan also met the threshold.
Voters in some council districts will also see crowded primary ballots:
Pete Festersen, Ed Truemper
Ben Gray, Timothy Ashford, Bruce Hunter, Tariq Al-Amin, Dennis J. Womack
Chris Jerram, JR Jasso
Garry Gernandt, Virgil J. Patlan Sr., Jacob Perasso
Rich Pahls, Jeff Moore
Franklin T. Thompson, Phil Klein
Thomas Mulligan, Tim Lonergan, Aimee S. Melton, Cameron Gales, Don Kroupa
The top two finishers in each race advance to the May general election.
