Authorities have arrested two people from Cedar Bluffs, Neb., in connection with the theft of hundreds of pieces of agricultural equipment in the past six months.
Saunders County Sheriff Kevin Stukenholtz said Tuesday that Jeffrey Ruckman, 47, and Tina Zoltowski, 48, were arrested Monday in Burt County on suspicion of theft of property. Zoltowski is free on bail.
Stukenholtz said his deputies had been watching the pair “for a long time.” He said they are suspected of stealing irrigation motors, farm machinery batteries, construction equipment and scrap metal.
The sheriff said he has spoken to authorities in 10 other eastern Nebraska counties who suspect Ruckman and Zoltowski of thefts in their areas.
In some cases, Stukenholtz said, the pair allegedly would advertise a piece of equipment for sale online and then steal it if a buyer expressed interest.
