Nebraskans will get a chance Friday to meet the 2011 Miss America at the Nebraska History Museum in Lincoln.
“Nebraska's Miss America: Teresa Scanlan,” an exhibit of her gowns and other pageant materials, will be on display through Sept. 3. The museum will host an opening reception from 5 p.m. through 8 p.m., as a part of Lincoln Downtown Association's First Friday Artwalks event.
Teresa Scanlan will speak and mingle with museum visitors at 6:30 p.m.
“I wouldn't miss it for the world,” Scanlan said. “It's very important for me to be there.”
Scanlan is a native of Gering, Neb., and a graduate of Scottsbluff High School. She was 17 years old when she was crowned Miss Nebraska in North Platte in 2010 and won the national title in Las Vegas in January 2011.
