The Nebraska State Reading Association has named Fremont author and literacy coach Nancy Wagner the Distinguished Educator of Reading for 2013.
Wagner, who writes award-winning children’s books under the name N.L. Sharp, also works with third- and fourth-grade students and teachers on reading and writing challenges.
Wagner will receive the award Saturday at the Nebraska State Reading Conference in Kearney.
Writers, artists invited to creative workshop
Legends Comics and Coffee will offer the Creators Workshop for writers and artists who are interested in developing their abilities and receiving input from experienced creators in the Omaha area.
The group will meet once a month — the first Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. — in the large lower level at Legends Comics and Coffee, 5207 Leavenworth St.
A guest artist will give a 7 p.m. presentation at each workshop. The next meeting, on March 5, will feature Bruce McCorkindale, a professional comic book artist.
The workshops are free.
