DALLAS — After two games of more than 11 runs to start the season, the Creighton baseball team only managed three in the series finale against Dallas Baptist.
The single-digit output was enough as the Jays won their third straight, 3-1.
The win completed the first series sweep for CU since it swept Central Arkansas at the beginning of the 2012 season.
Dallas Baptist held a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning before the Jays’ Mark Winkelman ended a Patriot scoring threat by striking out Nebraska transfer Boomer Collins.
Momentum carried over to the top of the sixth inning as sophomore Jake Peter and senior Alex Staehely each provided RBIs.
Staehely pushed across an insurance run in the eighth inning to cap the scoring.
CU plays Washington Friday at 2 p.m. in Beaumont, Texas, for the YMBL Cardinal Classic.
