A 26-year-old woman was repeatedly shot in the chest and arms early Thursday after letting a man into her Omaha apartment, police said.
Rebecca Earlywine was shot in her unit at Southside Terrace, a collection of Omaha Housing Authority-run garden apartments near 29th and S Streets.
Police arrested William T. Harris, 19, Thursday afternoon and accused him of trying to kill her. He was booked on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
Earlywine and Harris were the only people in the apartment at the time of the 2:15 a.m. shooting, police said. Harris left the apartment and drove from the scene.
Earlywine was in critical but stable condition following surgery at Creighton University Medical Center, police said.
She has been arrested multiple times, accused of drug-related offenses and other crimes, and has had protection orders filed against her, according to court records.
