LINCOLN — Three former Huskers are on the list of players invited to the NFL scouting combine.
The list, released late Wednesday night, includes running back Rex Burkhead, safety Daimion Stafford and kicker Brett Maher. In all, 333 players have been asked to participate in the seven-day event. There were 38 running backs, 60 defensive backs and 13 total kickers on the list.
The combine will run from Feb. 20 to 26. NFL Network will broadcast the action.
Several other seniors on Nebraska’s 2012 roster presumably just missed on the chance to earn a combine spot, including Ben Cotton, Kyler Reed, Will Compton, Eric Martin and P.J. Smith (all of whom were all-conference honorees, according to either the Big Ten coaches or media).
Iowa had two players on the invite list: Micah Hyde, a safety and James Vanderberg, a quarterback.
Iowa State also had two players: A.J. Klein and Jake Knott, both linebackers.
Chadron State’s Garrett Gilkey, an offensive lineman, is on the list.
