FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Being away from the Devaney Center didn’t faze Nebraska’s Janis Leitis as he won the men’s long jump title Friday on the first day of the Razorback Invitational
The senior remained undefeated this season in the men’s long jump, marking a personal-best 25-6 as the Nebraska track and field team competed in its first road meet of the season.
Mara Griva tied for third in the women’s long jump, recording a season-best leap of 19-10ľ to defend her No. 1 ranking in the Big Ten.
James White finished fourth in the men’s high jump, recording a mark of 6-10ĺ, while Jillanna Scanlan and Marusa Cernjul tied for sixth in the women’s high jump with marks of 5-7ĺ.
The men’s distance medley relay team of Connor Gibson, Tibor Koroknai, Tommy Brinn and Trevor Vidlak posted a third-place finish behind a season-best time of 9:45.50.
After the first day of competition the NU men are second in the team standings with 40 points, as Arkansas leads with 43 points. The women are tied for seventh at 15 points with Florida State.
The Huskers will return to the Randal Tyson Track Center tomorrow for the second day of competition at the Razorback Invitational.
