City officials will soon discuss their vision for Crossroads Mall.
This month, Omaha's Planning Department will hold a public meeting on the city's redevelopment plans for the 72nd and Dodge Streets corridor.
The city's interest is aimed squarely at reviving the Crossroads Mall area and the 72nd Street corridor to Interstate 80 as a massive hub for retail and housing activity.
Last year, Omaha officials approved a redevelopment zone that included the four commercial corners at 72nd and Dodge Streets, stretching south to Pacific Street to include the Nebraska Furniture Mart area and west to 84th Street.
Developers want to “de-mall” the Crossroads, maintaining anchor stores Target, Sears and Barnes & Noble while turning the enclosed mall into open-air shops, offices and housing.
The meeting will be held in the former Old Navy space at Crossroads Mall at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 24.
