Gov. Dave Heineman is taking applications from people who want to fill a vacancy on the Omaha Public Power District board.
The opening on the eight-member board was created by the death of businessman John Thompson, who died in early December after suffering from pancreatic cancer. Thompson, 66, was two years into his second six-year term.
Thompson represented the district’s Suburban Subdivision, which is an area bordered to the east by the Missouri River, to the north by Harrison Street, to the west from 108th to 84th Streets and to the south by Fairview and Plattview Roads.
The Governor’s Office will take applications through Jan. 25. The seat will be up for election in 2014.
Applications and information are available online at www.governor.nebraska.gov. They should include a cover letter and resume, and should be addressed to Peggy King in the Governor’s Office, P.O. Box 94848, Lincoln, NE 68509. Applications can also be emailed to email@example.com.
Forms can also be requested by calling the Governor’s Office at (402) 471-2244.
