Daniel L. and Jeanette M. LeMaster, married 33 years ago, believed in their wedding vows: “in sickness and in health ... until death do us part.”
For 10 months, Daniel tended to Jeanette's needs while she fought stage 4 colon cancer.
Then he fell Nov. 5.
Hospital tests to determine his injuries found an inoperable, baseball-size malignant brain tumor.
“He elected not to do radiation” so he could be with Jeanette, said Gary Gibbs of Council Bluffs, a brother-in-law to Daniel.
Daniel, 51, died Dec. 14 in the hospice program at Midlands Living Center in Council Bluffs. Jeanette, 52, died three days later at the same place.
A memorial service for the couple will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, 20794 Iowa Highway 92 in Council Bluffs. Visitation at 10 a.m. will precede the service. The couple were married at the church.
