A traffic accident involving a semitrailer truck on Interstate 29 in western Iowa left motorists stacked up early Wednesday.
Reports indicated that the semi overturned and tied up traffic on southbound I-29 just south of Council Bluffs about 6:40 a.m.
Both lanes of I-29 were blocked, but officials reported that traffic was slowly passing the accident scene on the highway's shoulder. Authorities rerouted some southbound traffic onto Iowa Highway 92.
The semi was hauling grain, which spilled onto I-29. The driver reportedly was not injured.
Elsewhere, an accident possibly involving three vehicles, including a semi, that occurred about 6 a.m. on westbound I-80 near 32nd Street in Omaha also stacked up traffic.
Authorities said westbound traffic remained restricted about 7:30 a.m., with one lane still closed because of the accident.
