Here’s one more reason why it’s better if President Barack Obama and Congress agree on a budget settlement rather than allowing automatic across-the-board “sequestration” cuts: Politico reports that the cuts would arbitrarily short-circuit contracts with a host of companies not only for the Department of Defense but also for entities including NASA, the Transportation Department and Homeland Security. Far better to base budget decisions on coherent planning rather than blowing up contracts willy-nilly.
“Casablanca” and “Citizen Kane” are perfect just as they are — in black and white, that is. A lot of younger movie-goers are used to color, though, and see such movies as passé. But what now, as ultra-realistic 48-frames-per-second movies hit the screens? Some predict they’ll make all previous movies seem archaic. A question the next generations will decide.
