Comfort food at Railcar
Omaha chef Jared Clarke has opened a new restaurant. Railcar Modern American Kitchen is serving comfort food, craft beers, signature cocktails and wine at its location off 144th and Blondo Streets.
Clarke ran the now-closed Blue Agave.
Railcar will be open for lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., Saturday, noon to midnight and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Happy-hour specials run seven days a week from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and again from 9 p.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday nights.

Second Tommy’s opens
The second location of Tommy Colina’s Kitchen is open. The restaurant opened a space in west Omaha, at 17857 Pierce Plaza, across from a Hy-Vee.
The hours at the new location are the same as the midtown location: Monday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Owner Grant Lundin said the new location will have the same menus along with a happy-hour bites menu that has sliders and cocktails. The second location has a bar area with a full selection of liquor, beer and wine.
Festivities at Market Basket
The Market Basket is having a holiday brunch on Dec. 23 and a New Year’s party suitable for families on Dec. 31.
The pre-Christmas event features an appetizer buffet and breakfast entrees and offers activities for kids, including a visit from Santa. The brunch takes place from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The New Year’s event begins with a buffet dinner at 5:30 p.m. Cocktails and mocktails will be served at 8:30 p.m. to ring in the new year.
The restaurant also has carry-out meals available for Christmas Day. Snacks and veggie trays, soups, dinner and brunch casseroles, cookie trays, baked goods and other items, including many gluten-free choices, will be available. Take-away must be ordered in advance. Lunches at Marylebone
The Marylebone Tavern once again is serving lunches.
The restaurant, at 3710 Leavenworth St., serves daily starting at 11 a.m. Every Wednesday and Friday, lunch includes $12 prime rib served with a baked potato and a salad.
Owners Dan and Peggy Bosiljevac, who bought the restaurant 18 months ago, also have a Friday night wings and tacos special. The deep-fried tacos are only served Friday nights, and the wings are served daily but discounted to 30 cents each on Friday nights from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and again on Monday nights during Monday Night Football.
Dan Bosiljevac said the restaurant’s blue cheese wings are especially popular.
Drinks at Cantina Laredo
Cantina Laredo has unveiled its holiday cocktails.
The drinks, both with a Mexican twist, are the Snowfall Sangria, a combination of Solerno blood orange liqueur, red wine, orange juice and fresh fruit; and the Pomegranate Rosemary Margarita, which is Avion Silver Tequila, Cointreau orange liqueur and pomegranate puree.
Seven courses at Taita
Taita is having a seven-course sushi and wine dinner on Dec. 26.
Chef and owner Jose Dionicio will be cooking with his brother, chef Jorge Dionicio, who works at Uchi Restaurant in Austin, Texas, for the event.
The dinner takes places from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is $70 per person before tax or tip. Reservations are required. For more information, call the restaurant at 402-558-2482.
New Year’s at Nosh
Nosh Wine Lounge is having a New Year’s Eve party. The restaurant is serving its regular menu plus a special menu created by its chef that includes pistachio-crusted beef medallions, foie gras torchon and lobster claw salad.
Reservations are required. The restaurant is taking reservations until 9 p.m., and a dance party begins at 10 p.m.

Changes at the Capitol
The main bar area at the Capitol Nightclub and Grillhouse Restaurant and Bar has been renovated, making the seating more conducive to dining.
The restaurant and bar has also changed its hours. The venue opens at 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday at 9 p.m. The hours can be extended for special events.
On Thursday nights, all bar items are buy one, get one free from 9 p.m. to close.
On Dec. 30, the bar is having a party for those in the hospitality industry. A $25 cover buys access to an open bar, live music and a pre-New Year’s Eve countdown. Reservations for the industry event are required. To reserve a spot or for more information, call 402-708-9988.
Prix-fixe dinner at Zin
The Zin Room will serve a prix-fixe dinner during three seatings on New Year’s Eve.
The menu includes a choice of appetizer, salad, entree, dessert and a glass of champagne. The earliest seating is at 4:30 p.m. and is $45 per guest, the second seating is at 6 p.m. and is $49 per guest and the final seating is at 8:30 p.m. and is $59 per guests. All prices are before tax and tip, and reservations are required. The evening also includes live music. For more information, call 402-991-0660.
Special dishes at Dolce
Dolce Cafe is ringing in the new year with a special menu. Seatings take place at 5:30, 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. and the meal is $75 per person.
Dishes include rustic potato soup with creme fraiche, caviar and chive; lobster ravioli with citrus and tarragon; a salad of winter squash, arugula, house bacon and cranberry marmalade; duck breast with trumpet mushrooms, truffled fingerlings, baby leeks and tangerine relish; and a pistachio strawberry chiffon torte for dessert.
